Wire a non powered two wired subwoffer to a Sony STR-511?

I have a non powered subwoffer that I would like to connect to my Sony STR-511 system. The sub only has two wires and the Sony does not have a connection for a sub. How would I wire it to the amp?

Connect front left and front right speaker wire from receiver to subwoofer input then output from subwoofer to front left speaker and front right speaker if your subwoofer doesn't have a LFE input.

I have a Sony STR DA30ES receiver and when I press power to come on it displays PROTECTOR and no sound . HELP.

I have checked the power cable and the outlet and all appear fine. IT will produce no sound from any component it only stays in protector mode. I can not find any reference to this in the manual. Any help is appreciated.

This is what I'd do to troubleshoot.

Remove all of the audio/video inputs from the receiver.

Power off the receiver by removing the power cord, wait for 10 minutes.

power on the receiver.. If the protector message comes up then there might be problem with the receiver ...

If receiver powers on then your receiver is good.

Power off and now connect each component one by one. See at what point the Protector message comes, that connection is the culprit..

Some of the common causes in connections for this are.

speaker cables getting shorted..
speaker impedance not set correctly in the receiver etc...
