Cinemate Speaker
Hooked up bose speakers, only hear humming...?
I hooked up my bose cinemate speakers today....I hooked everything up correctly, but I can only hear humming coming over the speakers. I really have to crank the sound up to hear anything, but the humming noise is just too much then. I am stationed on a base in germany and I made the mistake of plugging it in to an american power outlet, but I had the european voltage selected on the system....would that really mess my $500 speakers up? Wtf...
Oboy, yah you may have shorted the systems power
supply or
something else... And you may be able to
bring it in for repairs
somewhere, but- beat place to bring it to is back to Bose- cuz they do not sell parts to anyone- not even repair centers. They do not want anyone to know the cheap parts that they use for their $expensive$ products... Good luck!!!!

Is a receiver needed for a surround bar (HTIB) system?
I'm wanting to add some speakers to my LCD set up. I'm considering between the Bose Cinemate and the Polk Audio SurroundBar. What's the better choice? I want minimal speakers and hassle with ultimate sound. I also do not have a receiver but have a Blu-Ray DVD.
The Polk Audio Surroundbar and Surroundbar50 are passive speakers and connect to standard receivers. The Surroundbar 360 DVD Theater includes the DVD/receiver module and doesn't need a receiver module.
