Bose Acoustimass
What is the best type of receptor for the use of a 5, series III, Bose Acoustimass speaker system?
I love R & B, however, stronger under heavy ... These are great speakers and I would get the most out of them without damaging them with a lower quality receiver. The manual says the system is designed for use with Receivers / Amplifiers' nominal 10 to 200 watts per channel with an impedance of 4-8 ohms. I have no idea what that means!
Personally I think the Bose are overated and too expensive and I'm not alone - see link), but since they This is my entry to your question. These speakers are small speakers Combined with a subwoofer satellite biggest liability. The medium and high frequency sounds (directional) is reproduced by satellites while the low frequency (which is not directional) is reproduced by the subwoofer. They are relatively inefficient speakers ... which means you need more energy to generate more efficient speakers comperable volume. The range of 10 to 200 watts (4-8 ohms) means it can handle quite powerful (and expensive) amps, but do not need to deliver high power levels reasonable listener. That said, almost any amplifier to drive the market. The reference resistance 8.4 is the impedance (resistance) presented to the amplifier, but again this is standard and any amp halfway decent job. One thing to note is that the volume (high) is not linear with input power. The ear responds logrithmetically, which means that a small increase in volume is perceived by the two input power. Really loud music is order of 105-110 decibels (db, a measure of volume). If this, for example, receives 200 watts of power to generate, require less volume 3 db half (100 watts) and 3 db less than half again (50 watts). You can calculate for yourself that moderate volume (for example, 60 to 70 db) will require a small fraction of the 200 watts which requires 105 to 110 db. The point is rated at 100 watts amplifier (ignoring the issue of differences in "types" of W) drive these speakers at moderate volumes strong, and nothing else, just going to cost much more and yet deliver only slightly higher sound quality decreased rapidly (from distortion increases as the small speakers are driven harder). I will not recommend a particular receptor, although 50 -70 watt Harmon Kardon or NAD would be a good option. Hope this helps.

Bose Acoustimass modules interchangeable?
Does anyone out there whether the Acoustimass module are interchangeable? I have the Acoustimass module to 6, but the 2.5 "driver does not have enough power for me. Can you buy the Acoustimass 10 with 2 2.5" drivers for my work Acoustimass 6?
Do not do a favor and stop giving your hard earned money Bose. Stick to your Bose system in the local classifieds and sell it. Put money at an average price of an A / V (for example, Onkyo, Yamaha, Denon, all ages of players of 80 million DVDs and a pair of speakers library worthy of manufacturers such as Paradigm Klipsch, B & W, KEF, or mirage. End with a better sound system that will blow your Bose launching out of water and give you all the energy you want.
